Success Stories & Testimonials

Here at Music Xray we don't always hear about all the success stories because once an artist and an industry professional are in touch they do deals directly. We don't get involved. We don't take a cut and we don't have any way of tracking those deals either.

So, what you can read about to the right are simply some of the deals we've been told about by our users or that we've otherwise become aware of. In some cases we've been instrumental in getting two parties in touch and working together and those are easy for us to keep tabs on.

If you have a success story you'd like to share with us please send us an email to success@musicxray.com.

(Now, let's just hope we can keep him happy)!

Paul Grenier Headshot Hello all! I've been a MusicXray "customer" for some time now. Probably not far from their conception. I've enjoyed many interactions with professionals of all sorts via Xray and think it's one of the most brilliant concepts on the web today for both budding and established artists to engage professionals as well as the public. I've had many excellent experiences with Music Xray and encourage any songwriter with a great song and recording to give it a whirl. And no... they're not paying me for this haha. I'm just a happy user =)

Rob Thomas' Hit Single "Her Diamonds" Leaks Exclusively Through Music Xray

Rob Thomas head crop Her Diamonds This is a perfect case study regarding how to use a Music Xray Song Presentation Pack to build anticipation and release a new single.

In March of 2009 Rob Thomas became the first celebrity to pre-leak a major single through Music Xray. The song generated over 5000 listens in just under an hour.

Here's how he did it. Before release time, he uploaded his song, entered all the lyrics, his bio information, the song's video and set all the modules so they would track Twitter mentions, blog mentions, P2P traders and other metrics that enabled him so when it was time to launch he would be able to see in real time how the market was reacting to his song as it spread across the web.

Then, he set all the modules to "public" EXCEPT the Song Player module and the Video module. Essentially, that meant his fans could see everything - the image, the lyrics, the artist bio, the tracking graphs etc. but the song could not be played and the video could not be seen. Those modules were left "private". His fans started embedding Rob's Music Xray song presentation pack on their blogs and websites all over the Internet and waited matiently for midnight to strike.

Finally, at midnight on release day he logged into his Music Xray account and set the Song Player and Video modules to "public" and with the click of his mouse his song went live simultaneously everywhere his fans had embedded the song presentation package. The whole thing set off a firestorm on Twitter, Facebook and other social networks.

Check out Her Diamonds here.

Rachel Vogt Gets Valuable Feedback From Sony Music Producer Brian Steen

Rachel vogt with graffitti image These kind of emails and messages are sent every day about so many of the industry professionals that use Music Xray. This note came in from a satisfied artist a couple days ago so we thought we'd share it:
"I received my song review in a timely manner and I am very pleased with the effort Brian put into it. It was critiqued with much attention to detail. It was very obvious that he listened to it carefully and more than once. He offered me BOTH positive and negative feedback which I found encouraging and very constructive.

"Constructive because it was detailed, pointing out exact passages that he liked or disliked and why. I don't think any serious and mature songwriter should expect more that that. One thing that we (songwriters) are probably all guilty of this: we have a secret hope that when we submit a song to a producer that he might fall in love with it and produce it immediately with some "larger that life" star. It just doesn't happen that way. If you are looking for professional feedback about your song (both from the point of view of writing and the recording itself), I don't think you will be disappointed with this MIP submission.

"I was very pleased..[.] My advice is to spend the $12 and get yourself some unbiased feedback. It will be good for you. If any of you are interested in hearing the song I sent to him, [it is here] there, it is called Everything Is Changing and if you care to commucicate with me about it, you can reach me at RachelVogt at verizon.net"

Best of luck to you all, Rachel Vogt

Rob Guajardo Gets Licensing Deal. Then Gets Publishing Deal

Rob Guajardo image Artist Rob Guajardo submitted some of his music to a few industry professionals on Music Xray to get some feedback on how he might be able to improve. He got some great advice but one of those people happened to be Wayne Thompson and Wayne wanted to discuss the placement of three of Rob's songs in a movie Wayne is producing.

Rob was excited but realized that he didn't yet have a publishing deal in place so he submitted his music to a few more industry professionals who specialize in publishing and within 48 hours he was in direct conversations with Ken Hatley.

And that's the way to make it happen!
