Angelique Miles is currently president of ACM Entertainment, LLC focusing on Music Licensing, Music Publishing, and Music Supervision. Before venturing off on her own Angelique was the Vice President of Creative at EMI Music Publishing, Vice President of A&R at Universal Music Group, and Vice President of Creative at Warner Chappell Music.
Over the course of a nearly twenty-year career in the music business, Angelique Miles has distinguished herself as a creative executive of unusual range and skill and has, along the way, helped to shape the careers of some of the most significant R&B and Pop songwriters and recording artists in contemporary music. Through a series of high-profile positions at some of the world’s biggest and most prestigious music publishing companies (Warner/Chappell Music, EMI Music Publishing and Universal Music Group), and mostly recently as an independent music consultant for companies such as Budde Music Publishing, FOX Audience Strategy, Afropunk and various other independent entities, Miles has proven herself to be an adept judge of talent and a committed, result-oriented team player.
A New Yorker by birth and temperament, Miles has adroitly navigated her way through a volatile, shifting business environment with the singular class and professionalism that has come to define her. Whether signing a new Hip-Hop artist, collaborating with an R&B legend, or working with a catalogue of classic songs, Angelique has relied on her top-notch administrative and interpersonal skills, a killer set of ears and intuitive sense of style and timing, and the results have been stellar.
“My role is to serve the song, the artist or the project,” she explained. “Whether it’s an obscure old recording from the 80s that’s perfect for sampling or a young singer who is in need of development and direction, my approach is always to synthesize ideas that are unexpected but organic.”
The diverse list of artists and writers who have directly benefitted from Miles’ creative direction reads like a Who’s Who of contemporary Urban music and includes some of the biggest recording artists/writers/producers of the last twenty years: Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Anthony Hamilton, Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis, Angela Hunte, Pharrell Williams, Lil’ Kim, Junior MAFIA, Busta Rhymes, and songwriter/producer Shea Taylor, to name but a few.
Angelique’s philosophy about the work she does is clearly rooted in her own passion. “I pride myself in being able to communicate well with a diverse group of people,” she elaborates. “At the end of the day, I am a music lover, and I’ve been fortunate in my career because nurturing talent is a wonderful responsibility as well as a privilege. For me, in the end it comes down to the song.”
