This was written, recorded & eventually forwarded to a music supervisor via Taxi based on these instructions: MUSIC SUPERVISOR for a FEATURE FILM needs DOWN-to-MIDTEMPO EASY LISTENING INSTRUMENTALS in the vein of: “Theme from 'A Summers Place’” by Percy Faith http://bit.ly/Ww6h18 “Moon River” by Andy Williams http://bit.ly/U930a8 “Wonderland by Night” by Bert Kaempfert http://bit.ly/TNAUSE Submit INSTRUMENTALS with a distinctive EASY LISTENING sound like the pieces above. Your recording can be old or new but must have a similar RETRO vibe. If you’re submitting a new recording, please be sure the instruments sound authentic. Imagine what you’d find digging through Beaver Cleaver’s parent’s record collection! Kitschy elevator music may also work but the key is that it has to have a somewhat conservative, corny bygone sound – something today’s teens would totally roll their eyes at. It has to be as American as apple pie so Bossa Nova, Tijuana Brass, Cha Cha, etc. will not work. What would Lawrence Welk or Ray Conniff listen to during a very straight-laced dinner party? Instrumentals with non-lyrical vocals are okay but please do not submit songs with lyrics. (Yes, the Andy Williams reference has lyrics but that song is provided as a guide for tone, tempo, instrumentation and style.) You must own or control 100% of the master and the composition to submit for this listing. They have an upfront licensing budget of $500-$1,000 per song with a “step deal” that increases your synch fee as the film becomes more successful. This is a film by an accomplished director and the film has already been accepted into several major film festivals. This is DIRECT-to-MUSIC SUPERVISOR so you will keep 100% of the fees and royalties. All songs must be original -- no covers please. Do not rip-off the referenced artists or their music in any way, shape or form. The references are provided only as a guide for tempo, tone, texture, style and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great home recordings are fine). As always, please do not submit montages or collages of more than one song. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO basis by the MUSIC SUPERVISOR HIMSELF or a TAXI screener HAND-PICKED by HIM. Submissions must be received no later than Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 9:30AM PST. TAXI #U130116IN
