Written for Taxi under these instructions:
Leading NY Ad Agency needs ORIGINAL or COVER SONGS about "Magic" for a national TV commercial with ESTIMATED pay in $25,000 to $50,000 range. It gets better!!! They're looking for something fairly SIMPLE. Piano, guitar, ukulele with vocals could work nicely for this spot. They even mentioned Joni Mitchell-esque at one point, but have drifted away from that to some degree. Hey, got a autoharp or a zither? Just sayin'!! Quoting the ad agency: "We're looking for something kind of INNOCENT & SPARSEÉ possibly female vocals & piano, or vocals & not too many other instruments - we want the rhythm track to have a magical FEEL, and in a perfect world, LYRICALLY as well. For example, if there was a sparse female cover of 'Do You Believe in Magic' or another well-known Magic song, those could work." NOTE: Original songs will get paid more than covers, as the cover song's writer(s) will get half the money on the cover versions. FEMALE vocals are PREFERRED, but if you've got something KILLER with a male vocal that still sounds innocent and magical, we'll certainly consider that! Please send full-length songs with LYRICS. Broadcast Quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). You must own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights on ORIGINAL songs. For COVERS, you need to own or control the master recoding. If you ARE chosen, the AD AGENCY will contact you DIRECTLY. NO Publisher Splits. Once again, the estimated fee is $25,000 to $50,000 all-in for this commercial. Please submit one to three SONGS with LYRICS online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS. NO critiques from TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than TOMORROW, DECEMBER 21st, 2011 at 2pm (PST). TAXI# Y111221AD
