Written for Taxi under the following instructions: HUGE AD AGENCY needs a CONTEMPORARY, FUN, QUIRKY, UPTEMPO INDIE POP/ROCK or INDIE POP/DANCE SONG for a TV Commercial featuring an iconic SNACK FOOD. Lyric hooks should be INFECTIOUS and very MEMORABLE, and fall into the (quoting the agency here), "Break out, mix it up, break free, change it up [category]. We'd even look at 'get on your feet,' 'move it,' that sort of message. Songs about change, movement, breaking free, shaking up your routine, etc." Some of the songs they referenced are, "Break Out" by Swing Out Sister, "New Sensation" by INXS, and "Shake It Up" by The Cars, but those COULD be a little misleading as they didn't include any Indie Pop/Dance songs. Think of people dancing around, shaking it up, partying, and celebrating. Gear your submissions toward ENERGETIC, CONTEMPORARY sounding tracks. We know the referenced songs aren't "contemporary," but they're exempt because they're well-known classics and get a pass because they're already familiar. Maybe you could create a contemporary NEW classic! Your recording and production will need to be Broadcast Quality-great sounding home recordings are fine. You'll also need to own/control the Master and Copyright to be considered for what we expect to be a LARGE, ONGOING, NATIONAL TV Campaign that we anticipate having a sizeable PAY DAY to go with it! The company has requested that we don't give out their company name. If you ARE chosen, they will contact you. THE AGENCY WILL NOTIFY US OF ANY MEMBERS WHO CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY, AND YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Please submit up to (3) tracks via CD or online. Submissions will be screened on a YES/NO basis; there will be NO TAXI CRITQUES. Deadline for submissions is Friday, January 28, 2011 at 10am PST. TAXI # Y110128IP

Lyrics

Time to Break Away
by Bruce Bergh

Can you feel it? (Rising up above the crowd)
Do you hear it? (Calling out your name so loud)
Open you mind. Here’s your invitation
Step into the change and join the celebration

Get on your feet and groove with me
Mix it up, come on, break free
Get with the beat, make a change today
It’s time to break away

Shake it up! Step out from the ordinary
Break out! No more being sedentary
Enjoy yourself, transform your old routine
Party on! And join the newest scene

Get on your feet and groove with me
Mix it up, come on, break free
Get with the beat, make a change today
It’s time to break away

Day after day the same old
Boring rut will make you cold
It’s time to break away and
Change your life today.

Instrumental

Get on your feet and groove with me
Mix it up, come on, break free
Get with the beat, make a change today
It’s time to break away
Get on your feet and groove with me
Mix it up, come on, break free
Get with the beat, make a change today
It’s time to break away
Get on your feet and groove with me
Mix it up, come on, break free
Get with the beat, make a change today
It’s time to break away
