Liner notes
Written for Taxi with these instructions:
TOP TIER NY Ad Agency needs a SIMPLE, UNCOMPLICATED SINGER/SONGWRITER STYLE SONG that would work well in a NATIONAL TV CAMPAIGN that shows viewers how the world could be a better place. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's popular ukulele version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" could have worked for this, but it's been played to death in recent years. Quoting our source, "YOUR FULL-LENGTH SONG needs to have a similar emotional effect and spirit-giving listeners a warm, moving, uplifting, and hopeful tug at their heartstrings, but without sounding too sappy. The perfect song would have ONE or TWO INSTRUMENTS and a LYRIC (with a MALE, FEMALE, or DUET vocal performance that makes your hair stand on end) that gives listeners hope for a better world." Think about the kind of world you'd like to live in: cleaner air and water, less poverty, better schools, personal empowerment, etc. Don't watch the news before you start writing! Keep your lyrics GENERAL and DO NOT use exact phrases like "cleaner water," "better schools," etc. They're looking for an AUTHENTIC SINGER-SONGWRITER VIBE, NOT a jingle! Keep your intro short and make sure your song is easy to edit. This spot will be for a HUGE corporation, so we're taking an educated GUESS that this could be a VERY HIGH PAYING, signature TV spot that might run for a long time (great back end). NO PUBLISHER SPLIT on this-100% of the sync fee and royalties will go to you, if you land it! Broadcast Quality Tracks needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). You MUST own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques from TAXI.
