Genre-bending singer-songwriter HANNU LEPISTÖ's distinctive bass-baritone and unique mix of rock, R&B, pop, hip hop, and Americana - featuring Lou Reed-like vocals - make people sit up and take notice.

Born into a musical Lutheran priest’s family in rural Finland, Hannu's musical world got bigger when big brother Markku brought home CD's of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Dire Straits, JJ Cale & Johnny Cash. His godfather Tappari, a gigging guitarist with popular Finnish rock band, Nummisuutarit, was also a big influence, Old-school hip-hop hit the village grade-school and Hannu was sold on rock and roll. After drumming in several post-punk/grunge/noise bands, at 16, he switched to guitar, began writing songs and met his musical 'partner-in-crime' fellow guitarist and music addict, Petteri Mård. Together with some other musicians, they formed THE MATT PISTOL PROJECT. Years of gigging across Finland followed; then a management and publishing deal. Opening for various acts, including BONNIE TYLER and POETS OF THE FALL, the band cut a four-song EP, produced by percussionist/producer MICHAEL BLAIR (Hugh Laurie, Tom Waits, Lou Reid, Elvis Costello), the band garnered airtime in several countries, including the US.[Video for 'Pick Up The Phone' from the band's EP.]

But Hannu’s divorce and constantly worsening problems nearly took his life. Close friends and family helped him heal enough to write again. Letting go of the band, he set out to fulfill his biggest dream - going solo. Demos followed and he signed to Helsinki-based Homeward Records, Oy, in 2009. The songs on RUN AWAY WITH ME detail Hannu's journey from divorce through addictions, knocks on heaven’s door, to finding new love and a better future.

Apart from breathing music, Hannu is a thesis away from his Master’s degree in Theology at the University of Helsinki.
