About the artist

TOMMY SCHOBEL composer/producer/remixer Austrian-born Thomas Schobel is a multi-faceted composer and producer whose musical accomplishments include work for feature films, network television, commercials and albums. Tommy initially started out as a drummer, touring with a multi-platinum recording artist, and at the same time, broadening his substantial knowledge of music technology by studying sound engineering at Vienna's prestigious University of Applied Arts. Upon returning to his hometown, Tommy was introduced to composer and mentor Harald Kloser, with whom he collaborated on a string of notable scores for German feature films and television series. During this time he also ventured into songwriting, composing tracks for such recording artists as Falco, Al Jarreau and Jose Feliciano. In 1991 Tommy moved to Los Angeles. Collaborations with legendary disco sound pioneer Giorgio Moroder followed, resulting in remixes of songs by Blondie, Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer and Elton John. Soon after, Tommy broke onto the commercial music scene, composing spots for brand giants like Nike, Adidas, Fox Sports, Honda, DIRECTV, Major League Baseball, Honda, Nintendo, and Coca Cola among others. Since 2001 Tommy has been busy as an independent composer and producer working for luminaries such as, Michael Gondry, Brian De Palma, Roland Emmerich and Michael Mann. While his contemporary compositions are characterized by a fusion of electronica and classical traditions, he continues to seek innovative outlets for his various musical talents.
