About the artist

John David Peters is a New Mexico award-winning songwriter. His song “Don’t Take Me for a Hero” won “Best Song” at the 2019 New Mexico Music Awards. His songs have been finalists in several other contests as well. David’s songs cover a wide range of emotions and topics from the sadness of losing love and friendship to humor about the weather and social issues. David’s songwriting is primarily folk/Americana, but he mixes in some blues, pop, and country. David considers Paul Simon and Canadian folksinger Gordon Lightfoot as his primary songwriting influences.

David began playing guitar and writing his own songs at the ripe old age of 17. He played guitar and wrote songs on and off during his thirty-one year career as a high school English/reading teacher. After retiring from teaching, he took his music and ventured out into the public arena to perform for the first time.

Currently David runs a local weekly open mic for songwriters and is actively marketing his music in Nashville.

Lyrics

It’s All Right
by John David Peters

It’s all right I heard her say. I don’t take life so hard everyday.
I don’t have a my home or sleep in my bed, but I have mem’ries in my head,
Like sitting in the shade of my old apple tree feeling so pretty and so fancy-free.
It’s all right.

It’s all right I heard him say. I don’t take life so hard everyday.
Hours go by when I don’t feel any pain. I still love to walk, but I use my cane.
I can hear birds singin’ in the trees, and the song of the wind over the leaves.
It’s all right.

It’s all right I heard them say. We don’t take life so hard everyday.
We’ve found love, lost love, found love again. Even when alone, you’ve got one friend.
The rain’s gonna fall, but the sun still shines. If it gets too hot, the shade will be fine.
It’s all right.

It’s all right I heard them say, so why take life so hard everyday?
Troubles gonna come, but troubles gonna go, so take life easy; take it slow.
The tide rolls in, and the tide rolls away. The sun goes down but returns the next day,
So it’s all right.
