Lyrics

Keeps Me Close to You
Music and lyrics written by Jay Matthes

First verse:
Ironed shirts on metal hangers
Local news on the TV
telling stories of a city that don't belong to me
An open suitcase by the table with a note that keeps me sane
Says you're always thinking of me even I'm far away

Chorus:
Put tires on every road
Fly high above the clouds
Sometimes I have to leave and when I do
Yeah baby you should know
No matter where I go
I feel your love and it keeps me close to you

Second verse:
I swear I hear you singing in the shower
like you do when I'm back home
I can smell you on my t-shirts and damn near everything I own
Yeah the weather here is perfect and the food's been pretty good
Sometimes I stop to take it all in like I promised you I would

(Chorus)

Bridge:
When I'm all alone at night, sleepless in a motel room
My phone lights up the darkness like it's the sky and you're the moon
I hear the voice that I've been missing every day
and home's not so far away

(Chorus)
