Consideration for Management Roster at Kaner Music

We are currently seeking to expand our management roster. We are based in Brooklyn and are open to great acts from anywhere so long as you're music is awesome and you are eager to work hard to achieve success.

Currently an artist manager, Jared Kaner has held many different positions in the music business. Prior to his management career, Jared was the bass player for a band on a major label, a talent buyer at a concert promotions company, and even began as a ticket office clerk at a popular Boston music venue. It was during his band experience where management occurred naturally.

After she parted ways with her management, Jared became the day-day manager for singer/songwriter Aimee Proal, who he also played guitar for. During this time, Jared oversaw the deals that landed Aimee songwriting placements on Kelly Clarkson's "All I Ever Wanted," and Alison Iraheta's "Just Like You," records. She eventually signed to Emblem Music/Primary Wave. After that, Jared managed Bamboo Shoots for Epic records, where he took a band that no one knew about and got them on tour with the popular band 3OH!3 and a feature on a CW series, giving them their first exposure to a national audience on television.

submission price: $30.00

How To Make Your Songs Ready For Prime Time!

I have been in the room so many times over the years when a music manager, a publisher, a producer, or a record company executive listened to someone’s song. Typically, within the first 30 - 45 seconds, the determination is definitively made as to whether it is a great song or not.

And that shouldn’t be very surprising. Literary agents do the same thing with manuscripts, and actors do the same thing with scripts. It has to connect with them immediately. They know what they are looking for, and their time is precious to them.

I have seen songwriters who seem to have potential, not hit the bar. Something is just missing. Their songs just not yet ready for prime time.

I would like to help you get there.

When I receive your song I will typically listen to it that same day, and respond very soon back to you.

I will give you back an extremely comprehensive evaluation/critique of your song, addressing the chord structure, the melody, the lyrics, the structure, the production, and the overall combination of them all.

All with the encouragement you need so that can make your writing better. And then we will follow up with a ‘conversation’ in Xray where you can respond and ask any questions you desire.

And of course, if your song sounds like a hit, I will tell you that, and I can possibly help hook you up with someone I know who can help your career, like a music supervisor, or a music marketing expert.

I have had a number of opportunity listings on Music Xray, and the songwriters were very blown away with the detail of the review I gave back.

I was a production team member for both Nile Rodgers and Todd Rundgren, working on records for artists like David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Madonna, Jeff Beck, Meatloaf, Cheap Trick and The B-52’s. As a producer I have done records with Dr. John, Levon Helm (The Band), Kate Pierson (B-52’s), John Sebastian (Lovin’ Spoonful) and Mick Ronson, and as a composer I have written music for films & TV shows including the theme for the Olympic broadcast on ABC. I was also a music producer on Saturday Night Live for a number of seasons. As a songwriter I have collaborated with songwriters like Chip Taylor (who wrote classic songs like Wild Thing & Angel Of The Morning) and Jules Shear (who wrote If She Knew What She Wants for The Bangles & All Through The Night for Cyndi Lauper).

Here are some quotes from songwriters who I have previously done song reviews for:

"Now I finally know why everyone passes on my songs. Thanks for giving your time and expertise - I see a bigger picture now!"

"Wow - for the cost of a tank gas or a pizza and a beer - I finally learned all about what I was doing wrong. You are so super encouraging and inspired me to write better songs in a way that will impress music people who hear them."

Everything I've ever achieved musically, whether it's landing a tv placement, or getting signed to my publisher, I owe a big part to the guidance of mentors. I know from personal experience that sometimes a critique can take a good song and make it a great one.

I would love to listen to your music and provide some real-world feedback. Though I won't do any sugar-coating, know that I will listen carefully and respectfully. To me, there is nothing better than a well-crafted song and hats off to you for sharing a bit of yourself. :-) Excited to hear it!

She has achieved success with Rebecca Stella's number one song "Give Me That O", Noah Schnacky's debut single "Miami to LA", and many other various independent projects. Professional Songwriter and Publisher will Analyze your Songs

As a writer for Gloria Gaynor, D:Ream, Taja Seville and many others I understand what makes a HIT song. As a publisher I also know what does not make a HIT song and that is because I have also had many songs that just didn't get picked. Why? Well by analyzing them afterward I realized where I (or my writers) had gone wrong - too long, too slow, cheap words, or trying to be too clever. There's a million reasons but no excuses. Let me hear your song and I will give you an honest, and I mean brutally honest (but fair) critique of your work.

Professional Song Critique: Christian Matthews, Owner & Executive Producer - Atlas Fire Music

I looking forward to hearing your original songs and helping you make it the best it can be! Please submit your song(s) for a critique.

I am looking to both critique artists as well as find new talent for our roster. If your music knocks my socks off, I'll have one of my A&R managers reach out to you to discuss future possibilities! We are a Christian record label, and we're here to help Christian artists feel comfortable - not to make a buck off of them. We simply use the submission fee to avoid being flooded with countless submissions that we'll never get to. We want musicians who are serious about their music.

We believe in developing relationships with our artists. When we work with you, we learn about you, what you like, and what your goals in music are. As one of the largest, independent Christian labels in the nation, we're looking to change the Christian music industry with YOUR music! We sign artists from ALL genres of Christian music and even non-influential instrumental music. Being a composer myself, I just released an orchestral rock soundtrack that's currently being played on sports radio nationwide! The opportunities are endless!

- Christian Matthews | Owner & Executive Producer - Atlas Fire Music

I’ll give you written feedback on:
- Big Hit Factor – can it sell and/or go viral?
- Songwriting – lyrics, phrasing, title
- Technical – structure, composition, elements, arrangement
- Performance – Phrasing, dynamics and clarity
- Production – major-release broadcast quality, distribution ready

Everyone says I'm Great So How Come I'm Not Getting Anywhere?

When I was starting out, I wrote songs and dreamed of "making it". The problem was I didn't know how to get where I wanted to get to. I wanted to write better songs...maybe even hit songs. I wanted to speak to someone one-on-one who actually had record deals and publishing deals...maybe even a Grammy-winning song.
Someone who actually DID it!

After 20 plus years of all of the above including 3 major record deals (RCA, Curb, CBS), a major publishing deal (Warner/Chappell), a Grammy-winning hit and songs in blockbuster movies (American Pie etc.) and TV, I can offer you honesty and experience.
I'll cover everything from song structure to important questions like:
"is this song pitchable for film/tv or more suited for an artist?"

From my 10 years working side by side with the film and tv department of Warner Bros I have much knowledge and experience on what they’re looking for out there!

"What is this song missing?" Is the hook solid"? "Are the first 3 lines strong enough to hold someone's attention?" "Is the bridge more of a chorus than the actual chorus?"

POP tracks for Pre-Release feedback

Most artists are so excited to release their songs immediately that they often loose objectivity on the final and crucial stages of production (Mixing and Mastering). EVERY SUBMISSION HAS TO BE ON FINAL PRODUCTION STAGE (No demos or drafts) and it will be reviewed based on:
-Production/Arrangement decisions
-Mixing
-Mastering (if any)

Vyero will recommend changes if necessary, so you get it absolutely right for release.... He may even re-do your mix and/or mastering for an additional fee.

Accepting Indie & Unsigned Artists for Artist Development & Marketing

Whiplash PR & Marketing is accepting submissions for roster consideration for Spring 2018.

Having just celebrated our 20th anniversary, we spearheaded and pioneered the whole indie publicist movement back in 1997, before the indie revolution even started. We genuinely love working with the unsigned artist and band directly. It is very difficult for any band to get national and international press on their own these days. But, having the validation from press in magazines, webzines, blogs, podcasts and being added to playlists will create a national buzz and will help to brand you, your name and music.

WHIPLASH PR is now servicing clients in Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, South America, South Korea and USA. A few of the musicians that we have been privileged to work with over the years have been: Sophie B. Hawkins, Jack Conte, Doc Fell & Co., Robbing Johnny, Black Horse Motel, Hot Panda, The Slants, Slightly Stoopid,Suicidal Tendencies, Motion City Soundtrack, The Rustic Overtones, Guster,The Squirel Nut Zippers, Shane Martin, The Ormewoods, Amanda Thorpe, Beth Thornley, Shelita Burke, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Howie Day, Emilie Autumn, The Lumineers, Thousand Foot Krutch, Vienna Teng, Thompson Square, & Gavin DeGraw.

If you feel that you have what is take then please submit your song(s). We do not work with the following genres: Hip Hop & Rap, Jazz, Classical, EDM, Spoken Word. We also do not work with managers.

Looking for that Somethin' Special

Sometimes you hear a song and it hit you right between the ears, it sticks in your head and jumps up at you last thing at night, cleaning the yard, driving your car and you go "Damn that's catchy".

Well with thirty years in the business (Top Ten Writer / Producer and performer, including writing for the wonderful Gloria Gaynor) I have spotted songs well before they were polished into a hit. My friend played me a rough demo and wasn't sure about it. I nearly fainted, "That's Top Ten my friend" I told him.

I was wrong. It went to Number One in the UK for three weeks!

I hear hits. It's in my DNA. So let me hear what you have and I will give you my brutally honest critique. I will not blow smoke at you. I will tell you what I think and what could be done (if needed) to make it better.

Obviously if I love it then I will want to talk business with you too but that is for later.

OK the future is yours for the taking.

Musically yours, Tim H
