About the artist

After a tricky heart surgery and lengthy recovery, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Lee found him-self depressed and on the brink of financial ruin. Questionable if he’d ever be able to sing like once before, a monetary blessing came from a good friend and that was the catalyst that set things in motion to come back from a self-imposed hiatus. With a meager three thousand dollar budget, the question became was he up for the task and could he stretch every penny and crank out a full-length album. Vowing to no longer take his talent for granted, and in a sense was “reborn” Lee has realized his dream and has proven to himself he has the determination and drive to succeed.

In 2010, Lee made leaps and bounds. His single “Online” made its world debut on the Independent Music Network in August and quickly raced up the chat’s to number one. He was also included in the IMN newsletter feature spotlight. The tenacious R&B crooner has been featured in WWS R&B/Hip-Hop Magazine, in which he gave a candid interview about his music, the industry, and his future as a mature artist. Additionally, Lee made his debut on Riverfront Radio in St. Louis in September 2010 and was a performer and panelist at The California Endowment’s, (a well known philanthropic foundation) Building Healthy Communities convening, in which he discussed the arts and social change. November, Lee made his debut on “Skope Radio” an east-coast internet-based company.

Citing Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross as his vocal heroes, the self-taught musician introduces listeners to panorama of hard-hitting R&B tracks, classic old school ballads, and upbeat dance grooves. Lee delivers a genuine heart felt album of old meets new school. His upcoming CD Old School Reborn, is sure to bridge the gap between young and old audiences alike. Look to hear more from Stephen Lee when his full CD debuts in early 2011.

Lyrics

there must be two of me
someone’s inside it seems,
I don’t know who I am, split personality,

I’m never in control,
Possession by my ghost,
My bodies just the host ,
for the other me’s alter ego,

(pre-chorus)
Here I go again,
Leave my house at ten,
It’s an addiction,
And I like to feed my binge,

(chorus)
Them streets be calling me, ‘till two AM or three,
Won’t give ‘em up ‘till I’m six feet under and my tombstone
Reads how I like to party,
Them streets be calling me, Everyday of the week,
Won’t stop until I get buried,
Them streets, them streets, them streets be calling me.

(Break)
I’mma run the streets anytime that I wanna do it,
Cause I like to do it, any time I wanna do it,
(verse 2)
I ‘d rather stay at home, but him-not me that’s on the go,
It’s just another episode, a repeat of the twilight zone.

pre-chorus)
Here I go again,
Leave my house at ten,
It’s an addiction,
And I like to feed my binge,

(chorus)
Them streets be calling me, ‘till two AM or three,
Won’t give ‘em up ‘till I’m six feet under and my tombstone
Reads how I like to party,
Them streets be calling me, Everyday of the week,
Won’t stop until I get buried,
Them streets, them streets, them streets be calling me.

(bridge)
(bckgrd)When the night falls, and the streets call,
(lead)I become somebody else,
(bckgrd)My adrenaline, starts to kick in
(lead)
