Liner notes

"What The Funk?" is an album of classic authenticity, melding an incredible musical experience. The album was written and recorded over a two year period in (New York - Los Angeles - Atlanta - United Kingdom - Barbados - Nashville - Boston), featuring Stevie with a fabulous lineup of guest artists, vocalists and musicians.

Although titled What The Funk?, the album is not entirely comprised of funk tunes. Says Stevie, “The album is a mix of Funk, Soul, Jazz, Latin, Disco and Blues, with rock overtones woven throughout the tapestry of the tracks. Although this is me doin' my thing, me being me, the album pays homage to some of my inspirations and influences as a vocalist and drummer such as Clyde Stubblefield, Tower of Power, Al Green, Bobby Bland, Bootsy Collins and P-Funk, George Clinton, Funkadelic, Sly Stone, James Brown, Toots Thielemans, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix and others. There is a little something here for everyone. You get the funk, and then some!"

With soulful vocals, deep drivin' bass, slick guitars, big~n~tight in your face horn sections, smooth Fender Rhodes, super-funky drums, Hammond B-3 organ, Clavinet, Arp and Moog synthesizers, the heavy guns on this new album fire with all barrels. Pop the disk in, turn up the volume, enjoy.

PROCRASTINATION
LYRICS: C. Hannon/T.S. Hawkins
MUSIC: T.S. Hawkins
Tempo: 92 bpm

VERSE
Who is the one that has all the answers
Perfected the art of the evasive dancer - Yeah
Life is a waste secure in the shadows
Dare yourself, step into the light

Tick by tock you entertain
That second thought chimes in your brain

CHORUS
Procrastination
Procrastination
Procrastination, woah woah - yeah
Procrastination

VERSE
Motivation beaten by excuses
Bred by fear, and casting blame...what cha say?
Seeds are sown by the mind of a doer
Counts the clock, no reason to stop

Today delays while seeming wise
Leaves progression paralyzed

CHORUS
Procrastination, come on now
Procrastination, yeah – yeah - yeah
Procrastination, oh yeah - oh yeah
Procrastination

BRIDGE
Lift your mind, higher
Oh take your, higher, ooh yeah

CHORUS
Procrastination, is an alibi not to try
Procrastination
Procrastination, seize the day, don’t delay
Procrastination

CHORUS
Procrastination, is an alibi
Procrastination lawd - yeah
Procrastination, seize the day
Procrastination… ha, ha, ha, ha yeah, oh

I wanna rock with you yeah
Come on out, come on out to play now

SAX SOLO

SPOKEN
Come on outside yourself, you’re a winner
You’ve got mad skills
Don’t hold yourself back
Come on, good gawd, yeah

I wanna rock with you yeah
Yeah, I wanna rock with you, I wanna roll with you
I wanna get funky with you
Let’s get funky together
I wanna rock with you
Don’t you wait ‘til tomorrow, come on out today today, today, to play-ay-ay-ay
I wanna rock with you
