About the artist

My name is Ted Stockton, some call me Teddy. I was born and raised an Iowa man with two moms. When I was 14 I picked up my first guitar, strapped it on my back and rode my bicycle to a local hangout called United Action for Youth in Iowa City, the town I grew up in. They had a room set up with a drum set, bass amp, and guitar amp, along with acoustic guitars in the main room of the building, and there were volunteers who would help teach, along with the other musicians who would come hang out and share their knowledge of music. During the summers I would do this every day, and learned a lot about what I love doing, which is playing music. Artists such as Slash from Guns n’ Roses, and Pantera’s Dimebag Darrell Abbott were my inspiration as a young guitarist, and as I grew older my influences changed and I found my voice. Most recently my music has been impacted by the Outlaw Country movement with artists such as Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson. I want my fans to be able to lose themselves in the music they hear from me, to be able to let go of stress and any negativity, I want people to physically feel good and happy with themselves, and their entire life in the very moment they are experiencing my music, as my goal in life is to help others. My late mother taught me that the most satisfying thing in life is working towards the end of human suffering, both physically and emotionally, and this is my part.

Lyrics

Well
Got out of bed and
Went to work on Monday
After all the drinkin
I did Friday through Sunday
I spent twenty here
Twenty there
Damn near all my money
So the owner of that bar
Could pay for the car
He just bought
For his pretty little hunny bunny
Yeah

Well I'm crazy as they come
Some say wild
But I'm gonna stick with crazy
Half the stuff
I put myself through
Don't make a lick a sense to me
I said it once
And I'll say it again
I'd have a million dollars
If a nice rich man
Would give me a buck and a half
For every one of my problems

Well I don't know why I do these things I do
I guess that's what it takes to get me over you
Keep playin with my heart
Like I'm some kinda fool
I don't know why I do these things I do

Here we go
-Guitar Solo-

Well the drinkin was gonna cost my job
But the boss was nice
he gave me two weeks off
He said come back sober
I went ahead and I quit

Well I went back to the bar
I plugged in my guitar
I sang country songs all night long
To the girl in the back
I sang Johnny Cash
Now I think we might be gettin hitched

Well I don't know why I do these things I do
I guess that's what it takes to get me over you
Keep playin with my heart
Like I'm some kinda fool
I don't know why I do these things I do

Well I don't know why I do these things I do
I guess that's what it takes to get me over you
Keep playin with my heart
Like I'm some kinda fool
I don't know why I do these things I do

Why do I do these things I do
Baby why do I do these things I do
Why do I do these things I do
