“Hiding in Public subscribes to the long lineage of British pop songcraft, starting of course with the Beatles but also the Small Faces and Squeeze,” oozes Billboard and “displays the same unaffected yet sophisticated leaning of its predecessors.”
The band features the soulful singing and tasteful guitar work of Jamie Moses. Jamie has been hiding in plain sight for years as one of the UK’s top sidemen having toured with Queen + Paul Rodgers, Mike & the Mechanics, and most recently Tom Jones. When not standing on stage at events such as the Queen’s Jubilee or Nelson Mandela’s 46664 concerts, he is Hiding in Public with veteran collaborators David Holland, Kevin Poree and John Tonks.
Lyrics
Inner Anarchist
They're closing down production Gonna ship it overseas I'm part of the staff reduction I’ve got nothing to make ends meet
Oh they tell me there’s a recession That we all have to share the pain But the rich won’t pay their taxes It’s the same old greedy game
‘cause unemployment's high They pay minimum wage The state takes it back And then they give it away
Chorus
In troubled times romantics reminisce Won’t you lend me a dime to call my inner anarchist My inner anarchist ______
I ain’t got no education The funds were taken away To build a shiny football stadium Next to a crumbling state highway
I’ve got a vote to voice my opinion But everyone promises change Until they take from their corporate masters In the backrooms of free trade
‘cause unemployment's high They pay minimum wage The state takes it back And then they give it away
