Just added a new song for my upcoming Christmas album 9/21/13. A modern take on an old standard "Up On The Housetop". Just finished mixing it. It's a bit early for Christmas, but I still have a lot of work to do before releasing the CD.

Lyrics

Jimmy’s Housetop
by Bruce Bergh

It’s Christmas Eve, I can’t sleep. I’m lying in my bed
A hundred million thoughts appear, just dancing in my head
So, I decide to get up for something warm to drink.
Then, all at once I see a sight while at the kitchen sink.

Across the street, at Jimmy’s house, I cant believe my eyes
A UFO with jingling sounds comes flying from the skies
Finally, I make out the image of a sled
Pulled by flying reindeer with a driver dressed in red.

I know I saw this guy before, down at the local mall
His long white beard and stocky build was easy to recall
They said his name was Santa, I thought he was a goof.
But, he was ‘bout to prove me wrong by landing on Jim’s roof…

Upon Jimmy’s housetop his reindeer stall
And out jumps the fat guy from the mall
Down through the chimney with lots of toys
For Jimmy’s three kids, one girl and two boys
Ho ho ho, What do you know?
Ho ho ho, look at him go!
Then, up through the chimney, click click clink
On to the next house, lickity split

Next comes the house of Miss Bambi Dole
She’s been bad, so she gets some coal
Picked up twice by police patrol
‘Heard she requested a new stripper’s pole
Ho ho ho, none of my biz
Ho ho ho, that’s what she is
On go the handcuffs, clickity click
Off to the jailhouse, no more tricks

Next house, to the next house…

From one house to another I saw him fly
He covered our block in the wink of an eye
Watching him work made me realize
The way he spread joy, I can do likewise
Ho ho ho, spread Christmas cheer
Ho ho ho, do it all year
Be kind to your neighbors, make your friendships strong
If we all do, we’ll all get along

Ho ho ho, spread Christmas cheer
Ho ho ho, do it all year
Be kind to your neighbors, try to get along
Now this is the end of my little song
