Sylvia Harris is a music industry liaison with
a successful record of connecting independent artists to record label executives.
As an Artist Development trailblazer, Sylvia presided over Alpha Music Group (AMG), New York’s premier Independent A & R firm from 2003-2008.
"Sylvia Harris and her company, Alpha Music Group, made us proud to be New Yorkers." -New York Cool Magazine
Under her oversight, AMG was home to the AMG National Record Label Tip Sheet, the AMG 10-Step Artist Development Program, the AMG National Record Label Showcase Series, and the AMG International Talent Showcase Series.
Sylvia's vision was to bring talented, independent artists to the attention of record label executives. To that end, A & R Reps from Atlantic, Bad Boy, Capitol, Columbia, Epic, Interscope, Island, Koch, Sony, TVT, Universal, Virgin, and Wind-up participated in AMG’s talent introduction services.
Equally successful was Sylvia’s Record Label Showcase Series. Sylvia produced the only live showcase series in New York that guaranteed performing artists private showcases and face-to-face meetings with a minimum of four Major Record Label A & R Reps.
Sylvia followed up the AMG National Record Label Showcase with an International Talent Showcase Series that featured bands from Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the UK selected to perform for Atlantic, Island, and Capitol. The AMG International Showcase was consistently sold-out to club capacity.
Today, Sylvia continues to help independent artists by offering Independent A & R and Artist Development. She publishes The Record Label Door A & R Tip Sheet, distributed to 2,468 loyal music industry executives. A & R Reps from every major record label have requested Press Kits from artists featured in the Record Label Door Tip Sheet!
