I have promoted European hard rock bands to US film makers, television music video shows, radio stations and record companies. I also write critiques and reviews and help prepare press kits.
I'm a former musician and retired attorney living in the San Francisco Bay Area, married to a professional musician. I've successfully placed music from the bands I've worked with in films, television music video shows, and radio stations. I write press kits, help find mastering engineers, and write reviews. I specialize in rock/hard rock/metal music because it's what I love the most, but I really think there are basically only two kinds of music: good music and bad music, and I'm a fan of many styles.
Here are a few examples of my work:
I've placed music from my Lithuanian band IR, my Latvian band StoneStep, my Slovakian musician John Boytosh, and my two Americans, the band Halfway Human and Chris Marsol in the movie "Dog", which you can check out at www.doghorrormovie.com. Harry Manfredini ("Friday the 13th") scored the film and Vincent Guastini ("Dogma") headed the special effects department. We're very excited about this!
I've placed music from my Latvian band Backflow, and also from IR in the movie "Zombiefied", which you can check out at www.zombiefiedmovie.com. It's getting very good reviews and just got picked up for distribution. It's available on amazon.com as well as other website. We're pretty excited about this one, too.
I've placed music from IR and StoneStep in the movie "Unholy Reunion", which you can check out at www.myspace.com/unholyreunionmovie. This is also getting some good reviews which, of course, we're very happy about.
For all of these indie movie placements, I negotiated an excellent Music Rights Agreement for the bands with the producers/directors where they have the opportunity to share in any net profits made by the movie, and I'm quite proud of this.
I've gotten videos from my Russian band One Glimpse Away, and my Latvian bands Age of Stones and Backflow placed and featured as Nextwave Artists of the Month on the nationally-broadcast music video show Strictly Global, which you can check out at www.strictlyglobal.org. Harry Martin, the music director of the program, could tell you a bit about me. He featured every band I sent him. Unfortunately, as of fall 2011, after 8 years, Strictly Global will no longer be on the air.
I've also done numerous music reviews for Altsounds.com, a British-based online music review (and much more) website. Two of my reviews were featured in the very first edition of Altsounds.com's magazine.
Check out how Leslie has been a big help to Music Xray artists, especially in the field of rock here. Also, check out the wonderful critique/review for Ted Lazaris' DarkSide of Heaven here.
