Dial Tone

the streetlights just turned on
i guess it's night
and now your face
is bathed in copper light
when i'm with you i'm
lonely like ghost
humming in the background
like a dial tone

oh why oh why?

a girl is running down
the rain-soaked street
her feet are keeping time
with my heartbeat
i realize i'm just a lonely soul
stretched out behind you
like your blue shadow

oh why oh why?

the streetlights just turned on
i guess it's night
and now your face
is bathed in copper light
when i'm with you i'm
lonely like ghost
humming in the background
like a dial tone

oh why oh why?

About the artist

Sarah June is a singer-songwriter from Detroit. Known for having a very unique child-like but soulful voice, backed by inventive and complex guitar work (all done by Sarah) largely inspired by blues and jazz. June is quickly gaining notoriety for her undeniably distinct sound, described as "spooky americana" or "gothic folk". Her second album "In Black Robes" is now available on Silber Records. As a young child, Sarah avidly played piano and guitar, and began writing songs as a young teen. When she was 18 she began to perform in Chicago and Detroit. Sarah June's music is largely inspired by the haunting images conjured by the urban wasteland of her hometown, Detroit. In 2007, Sarah began writing songs to compile into her debut album This Is My Letter To The World, which was released on Hand·Eye Records in August, 2008, and was met with excellent reviews. Sarah records all of her music at home. Sarah's album "In Black Robes" will be released on vinyl 12" in September 2010, and she will be playing shows soon in a town near you! Stay tuned!
