I almost drowned when I was five, in a pool Sank from the shallows down into the deep like a stone My mother came diving down, pulled me back to the air Her face full of terror and love, she quietly said
“Son, don’t you know you can never come back once you go? Once you go you can never come back, so don’t you go. Don’t you go!”
Well that was the same year that music was born in my soul And right through my teens it would fill me with hope and with joy But rebellion was strong in me, I had to learn on my own The teachers and preachers decided I had to be told They said:
“Don’t you know you can never come back once you go? Once you go you can never come back from Rock ‘N’ Roll It’s in your soul!”
Now I am older and I have a son of my own Oh! He was grooving to music from in utero And now he plays drums and it fills him with joy and with hope We love to ROCK and we don’t need permission to roll We will roll.
Once you know you can never turn back from Rock ‘n’ Roll Once you go you can never come back from Rock ‘n’ Roll It’s in your Soul Once you know you can never turn back from Rock ‘n’ Roll Once you go you can never come back from Rock ‘n’ Roll Lets Rock & Roll It’s in your soul!
