Liner notes
'The Flyer' is a mix of jazz, rock and latin with rap vocals added by Richard Ivey. It's one of 12 tracks from the jazz album, 'The Jericho Notes' by Peter Holmes. Although the recording was completed in 2004, it's just being released now. But, it's jazz. Happily, there's no best before date.
A critic at the well regarded U.S. publication, Jazz Week, ranked The Jericho Notes 6th best recording of 2004. Just ahead of Alice Coltrane and Al Jarreau.
The foundation of the recording is a trio comprised of Robi Botos, on piano, Mike McLelland, on drums and Peter Holmes, on bass and vocals. They're joined on various tracks by horn players Kevin Turcotte, William Carn, Chris Mitchell, Sean Nykwist and Alexis Baro.
The Jericho Notes was written and produced by Peter Holmes, with Igor Vrabac for the Flatacre label.
