About the artist

It is said in the bible Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth”. Well that time has come! Going by “Yah Derrty Zo” Lorenzo Brooks born September 27th in St. Louis, MO is ready to give the world what they’ve been waiting on. For years he’s played in the background waiting patiently for his time to surface. He’s watched many artists come and go trying to achieve the success of fellow St. Louis' icon, Nelly. He’s worked at local radio stations;so he’s stepping from behind the radio to the top of the radio. He’s dropped such singles like "Tripple Step" and "Oh No/Lil Moma on the Flow", two songs that did well in clubs, social networks (myspace, youtube, etc.) and radio mix-shows. Lorenzo is bringing back that dance party, make your girl move, melodic, soul-searching, real life, I’m better than you arrogant flow.

“I know there's plenty of people out there that don’t want to see me make it; personal and political, but I have the P.P.G policy on my side; patience, persistence and God. I’ve been in radio since 2005 and I learned the politics of what goes on behind the radio, so I now have the knowledge of what it takes to conquer and dominate the radio,” stated Yah Derrty Zo.

From early child hood throughout college, Yah Derrty Zo has always had a passion for creating art. He began drawing early as five, writing lyrics around the age of 10 and majored in Graphic Design in college. Lorenzo has an amazing hustle and street sense. Coming from a single parent home, his mom says he gets that from his dad. Yah Derrty Zo is highly intelligent, he graduated from High school with a 3.8 and has a B.A from the University Missouri of St. Louis in Liberal Studies.

“The good thing about being book smart and having street sense is that they help one another out. When it came time for me to get my self out of a situation where I used street sense first, I used my book smarts to help me get out, vise versa. It didn’t always work, I got caught up once, but I learned from it and have been on a straight and narrow since”, stated Yah Derrty Zo.

Music was never the plan for Yah Derrty Zo, he just fell into it. He got the opportunity to intern at a local radio station and he just ran with it. He put out a series of mix tapes and began hosting clubs, but it wasn’t until he connected with another local artist before he noticed that he had a calling for music. The artist asked Lorenzo to do a song, and even though Lorenzo had never recorded before, he agreed. The song turned out to be a smash and everyone was saying you should push this as a single, but the other artist was working another record. So Lorenzo started recording record after record, coming up with a single called Tripple Step. When he released it, it immediately went in demand: clubs, radio, youtube, myspace, everyone wanted to be a part of it. Lorenzo received multiple calls and looks.

“I know you hear it all the time, but I really do have what it takes to be one of the greats, I know it and that’s all that matters. When that right person comes along and discovers me, everyone will see, trust me. I have nothing to prove to no one, my ability to make good music comes from above. As I said before, I never planned to be in this place in life that I’m at right now. If you’re into religion, even a little bit, you know we all have a calling. We don’t tell God what we want to do; he already has it planned for us. So by me not planning this, this must be it”, stated Lorenzo.

“When I close my eyes, if I have made the people close to me lives better, helped other people in the world lives better and pleased God, my dreams and goals will have been achieved, everything else is none and void. Music is my outlet in making this dream come true”, Yah Derrty Zo.
