While comparisons have been drawn on Simon’s style with Ray Lamontagne, Ryan Adams and Paolo Nutini, this Navan born & raised guy has been working on perfecting his own sound from a very young age. Joining his local brass band while still at school was where his love of the trumpet was born. This classically trained composer & trumpet player studied at both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Of his sound Simon says “you will find elements of jazz, soul, acoustic and rock which I guess comes from listening to artists like Credence, Van Morrrison, Miles Davis and Stevie Wonder, however, my influences stretch well beyond these icons”.
In the two years following his graduation, Simon spent some time singing with a number of bands both Glasgow and Dublin before going solo in late 2007 and this is where he feels happiest and most productive. It was at this time that he started writing music closer to him using jazz and soul to produce his own take on old-fashioned rock ‘n roll. He has since opened for both Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson and more recently Laura Izibor.
In the two years following his graduation, Simon spent some time singing with a number of bands both Glasgow and Dublin before going solo in late 2007 and this is where he feels happiest and most productive.
