Ravenous Raven Songwriting Community

Ravenous Raven is a community of songwriters both professional and amateur from those just starting out to those who have been in the business for years.
This is a community of songwriters both professional and amateur from those just starting out to those who have been in the business for years.
The community is here to share tips and tricks about songwriting and for you to ask songwriting related questions and get them answered by other members of the community. Each day we also give out a link to a community member’s song and ask for comments from the rest of the community (#Song4Comment). We also run occasional songwriting exercises.
The whole thing runs on Twitter. This blog site is just a backup support site of our Twitter activities. The community is run by @RavenousRaven.
To become a member of the community, all you have to do is to follow @RavenousRaven on Twitter – then just get stuck in and start taking part! Read below to find out more.
Glad to have you on board – we look forward to your input.

Here’s how The Twitter Songwriting Community works:
Our Twitter username is @RavenousRaven. Our Twitter profile can be found at http://twitter.com/RavenousRaven where you can see all of our previous tweets.
If you send us a songwriting tip on Twitter (via @reply or Direct Message DM) we will retweet (RT) it out to the community (i.e. our followers). If you send us a songwriting question, we will also RT it. If people answer this question then we will RT their answers so that you can see them. Each day we send out a songwriting tip of our own on Twitter (believe it or not it will start #Songwriting Tip: )
Our recent daily tips can also be found on the homepage of our blog (http://RavenousRaven.com)
Song4Comment:
Each day we also send out a link to that day’s #Song4Comment – a community member’s song which has been submitted by them for critique by the rest of the community
The current #Song4Comment can also be found at the top of our blog homepage
We encourage you to send in comments on the daily #Song4Comment – doing this regularly will help your own songwriting. You will get to learn what works and what doesn’t work
To comment on the current day’s #Song4Comment just send your comment to @RavenousRaven on Twitter (via @reply or DM)
All comments we get on that day’s song are RT’ed to all.
If you do a Twitter search for #Song4Comment (<–click here) then you will be able to see the original messages we sent out containing the links to the songs as well as everyone’s comments. Submitting your own song to #Song4Comment:
To submit one of your own songs to be #Song4Comment you can one of two things:
Recommended: Go to MusicXray.com, create an MusicXray for your song and submit it to us here: RavenousRaven Dropbox.
Please read our bio on the dropbox page first before submitting – it will give you instructions that you need to follow.
More info about MusicXrays can be found on our blog here: http://ravenousraven.com
Other Option: Send us the name of the song and a link to the website where the song resides. Sites like MySpace, ReverbNation etc are preferred over your own hosted site as they will be able to handle the bandwidth needed. Send us this information on Twitter (via @reply or DM) also mentioning that you wish this song to be used as a future #Song4Comment
Other points to note:
We are obviously not on Twitter all the time as we have our own songwriting to do! We do aim to check & retweet messages at least several times a day. Any tweets received during the night UK time will be retweeted first thing in the morning UK time. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us on Twitter!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Question: Why do you keep on repeating the same daily tip and #Song4Comment again and again? Answer: We have followers from all over the world in every continent and many different time zones. In order for them all to get the opportunity to see the daily tip and #Song4Comment we repeat them 4 times during the day at roughly 6 hour intervals. We feel that this is about the right amount of repetition without getting annoying for everyone else. If we feel that the #Song4Comment messages have got lost amongst a lot of other messages or if not many comments have come in for that song, we may repeat the #Song4Comment message a few more times.
Thanks,
RavenousRaven (RR)
