Michael “Mike” Trampe is a rising media entrepreneur, promoter, speaker, accomplished marketer and social media director. Destined for greatness in this industry, he started out as a DJ at 14 years old, so music has always played a major role in Mike’s career. Today, Mike’s story, expertise, and talents have been recruited by a number of music industry events, programs, and even live network television (FOX 29 Philadelphia). His know-how and work ethic have created opportunities for him to do promotional work for the content of Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar of TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment), two well-known artists on a leading record label. Among a room full of artists and gatekeepers, Mike Trampe plays vital roles as a connector, a middleman, and an expert consultant. In 2009, he was awarded the Philadelphia Pioneer Hip Hop Award alongside highly-respected talent like Gillie Da Kid and Sandman. The Philadelphia-native has made a name as the “go-to person for your go-to person.” Among his many titles, it is no surprise he’s known to the industry as “Mic Vicious”.
Starting out from the bottom as a marketing intern in 2007 it wasn’t too long before Mike became Marketing & Social Media Manager at Cheri Media Group, purveyor of the hugely popular website HipHopDX.com. Trampe is solely responsible for skyrocketing DX’s social media program from 0 to over 287,000 plus Twitter followers, a Twitter verification, more than 1,016,000 plus fans on Facebook and 16,000 plus followers on Instagram. He also handles all contests on the site as well as all creative aspects of the social media program. Mike continues to guide the media company’s brand to the highest rankings in Hip Hop’s digital community. Over the recent years his efforts have delivered DX mainstream recognition in awards at the Underground Music Awards and VH1 Awards for “Best Hip-Hop Website”, as well as a nomination for “Best Hip Hop Online Site” at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards. In 2013, DX was ranked number 3 in The Source Magazine’s Digital Power 30, beating out hundreds of other sites in a congested market.
Trampe does not allow his accomplishments get to his head, and continues to hone his skill set. In 2012, Mike began writing and conducting interviews with Hip Hop’s most popular artists about not so popular topics in the genre. Thus far, he has interviewed artists such as 50 Cent, Joell Ortiz, Chino XL, Sticman of Dead Prez, Lil Dicky and a few more known artists. In 2014, Mike Trampe’s article “The Formula: A Roundtable Discussion On Health In Hip Hop” made waves throughout the industry by tackling issues of health within Hip Hop culture.
Trampe’s own brand continues to grow far outside of his work with the industry leading HipHopDX website. In addition to putting on for the biggest Hip Hop acts, Mike can be found hosting and judging select indie artists via Coast 2 Coast LIVE’s online video showcases twice every week. He runs M.A.A.D. Management, a firm focusing on “Music, Artists, and Distribution” through promo services, social media, and artist advice videos. His most recent venture is a media outlet in MikeTrampeTV, a blog catering to indie artists with unique Hip Hop music, movie news and anything else that tickles his fancy. With complete ownership of the newly launched media site Mike Trampe is ignoring industry politics and has adopted the slogan “My Site, My Rules!”
Mike Trampe has served as a speaker and/or judge at a long list of showcases and panels alongside multi-platinum producers, major label executives, and other music legends. With hard work, respect and determination, he is well on his way to joining their ranks.
