John Ozier began his career in Nashville at Curb Records in 2002 and became Vice President of A&R in October of 2011. As VP of A&R, he oversees the creative and administrative aspects of the record company; including signing artists, developing artists, setting and monitoring budgets, negotiating contracts, and helping find songs for the artists on the Curb roster. Having worked in three departments (A&R, Publishing, and Accounting), Ozier has the skills and experience in nearly every aspect of the music industry. He currently works with and is responsible for songs recorded by artists such as Tim McGraw, Rodney Atkins, Wynonna, Lee Brice, Trace Adkins, LeAnn Rimes, Heidi Newfield, Jo Dee Messina, Clay Walker, Hal Ketchum, Natalie Grant, Ronnie Dunn and others. In 2010 alone, Ozier was responsible for 4 top 5 records on the Billboard charts, including the 2010 Country Billboard song of the year, “Love Like Crazy.” As VP of A&R, Ozier has been responsible for the Rodney Atkins’ two-week #1 record, “Take A Back Road,” which was BMI Song of the Year for 2012; as well as Lee Brice’s #1, “A Woman Like You,” which is certified platinum and was SESAC Song of the Year for 2012.
Ozier is also a #1 chart-topping songwriter with cuts by Lee Brice, Charlie Worsham, James Wesley, Russell Hitchcock, Martin Ramey, James Dupre and others. He also co-wrote Lee Brice’s Billboard two-week #1 and platinum single, “Hard To Love.”
Ozier is a voting member of the Recording Academy and a member of the CMA, ACM, GMA, and NATD. He also serves on the Alumni Board at Montgomery Bell Academy; he is a graduate of Leadership Music and the Scarlett Executive Leadership Institute at Belmont University; he is a member of the Tennessee Business Education Coalition; and he currently serves on the Tennessee Scholars Advisory Board for the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce.
