The Festival4stars Song Writing Competition was launched in 2005 and was open only to U.K. residents.
In 2008 this has become International with money prizes as well as a trip to London for the winners.
There are 4 genres, Singer/songwriter, Pop/Roc

Pop/Rock/R&B
Singer/Songwriter
Country
Wild Card (for songs that do not fit into any of these i.e. folk, world, new age, etc)
*Note - Instrumentals not accepted
Here is how it works:
There are 3 heats in the contest:
Heat 1: CLOSED
Heat 2: CLOSED
Heat 3: June 10th - September 10th
Artists can submit to as many heats as they would like.
Each heat has 3 stages:
Stage 1: All submissions receive written feedback form with full appraisal, within 4 weeks of entering. This feedback will also state whether or not the song will advance to the 2nd Stage.
Stage 2: All songs that advance to the 2nd stage will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and 3 songs from each genre will go through to the 3rd stage.
Stage 3(The finals): The 3 songs from each genre will be placed online for the public to vote. An overall winner from each section will be selected based on %50 public vote, and %50 judges vote.
4 winners will be chosen from each heat (one song from each genre)
The 12 winners from all 3 heats will compete for the Grand Prize
