Lyrics
Once I thought it was important
To save every souvenir
Every tacky, plastic trinket
From the same place every year
I thought I'd live forever
On a neatly printed page
It's funny now to think how I am writing less these days
Now I don't call you anymore
I don't write you anymore
I don't see you anymore
I don't miss you anymore
There's a tape of songs you made for me
Songs you said I "had to hear"
Songs that always make me think of you
Now I know why I had to pack it here
And there's a poster from a show we saw
Because it starred your friend
Do you remember how we knew from the first act
Exactly how the play would end
Now I don't call you anymore
I don't write you anymore
I don't see you anymore
I don't miss you anymore
I am rummaging through boxes
I had long since packed away
Old discarded memories
Junk I thought that I might need some day
Now I don't call you anymore
I don't write you anymore
I don't see you anymore
I don't cry for you, don't cry for you
I don't know you anymore
I don't need you anymore
I don't hate you anymore
I don't miss you
Anymore
Liner notes
This is a song of regret. Two voices -- me and Dar Williams -- and one acoustic guitar. Sad.
Additional artist information
I'm a stay-at-home dad but I've been writing, recording and performing my songs for 20 years.
I'm a singer-songwriter. I did it full-time in the 1990s. I headlined places like Club Passim, Caffe Lena, Cafe Carpe, Eddie's Attic, Skidmore College, WPI and Illinois Wesleyan University. I co-billed and shared writers-in-the-round nights with folks like Kristian Bush, Dar Williams, Peirce Pettis, Ron Sexsmith and Carrie Newcomer. I opened for legends like Richard Thompson, Loudon Wainwright III and Peter Case. I co-founded End Construction Productions with Ellis Paul, Jim Infantino and Brian Doser. I released two solo albums.
I lead a band called The Loomers. We've performed at places like The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Fenway Park, The Knitting Factory, CBGBs, and Berklee College of Music. We once backed John Mellencamp. We won the Jury Prize at Berklee College of Music's Battle of the Executive Bands and were finalists in the Fortune Magazine Battle of the Corporate Bands. We've had songs appear on MTV & PBS and released five albums of original music.
I also sing in cafes and bars with my wife, Heather Quay. We have a blast singing pop, folk and country songs from the '50s to the present -- it even pays for the babysitter sometimes!
Dig it.
