Neurogenesis by Monks of Mellonwah
Lyrics
The salt will clean the exit wound,
as he finally checks his designs,
wasn't sure what he'd come up with,
coming closer to cry, now
no no no no no
He saw the seeds and he saw the earth,
red trigger pulling the thread,
Couldn't contemplate the place,
or what had crawled in his head,
No. No no no no no
So you're gone, you're gone, you're gone now to California
We used our hands we took our time,
You made me yours I made you mine,
We used our hands we took out time,
You made me yours I made you mine
The salt can't clean this exit wound,
as he turns to the Eastern Shore,
Couldn't recognise the place,
or what had started it all, No.
No no no no no
We used our hands we took our time,
You made me yours I made you mine,
We used our hands we took our time,
You made me yours I made you mine.

Additional artist information
The Monks of Mellonwah are an award winning four-piece alternative/indie rock band based in Sydney, Australia. The band has toured nationally and internationally, traveling to the United States twice, winning awards for Best International Act (22nd annual LA Music Awards 2012) and Best Indie Rock Band (2012 AIM Awards). Their two EP's and subsequent music videos have gained them worldwide critical acclaim, airplay on MTV's network and extensive radio play.
Strongly influenced by rock artists such as Led Zeppelin, Muse, Pink Floyd and the Chili Peppers, the Monks's music displays a masterful and unique blend of intense space, driving riffs and sharp metaphors. Their love for both Classic and Alternative Rock has led them to the exploration of various sounds and genres.
After the success of their first EP “Stars Are Out” which enjoyed significant radio play across Australia on community radio, the Monks released their second EP "Neurogenesis" in May, 2012, along with a new video for "Neverending Spirit", to an overwhelming response. In addition to international and national radio play, College Radio in the US and Canada, "Neurogenesis" received hundreds of reviews and features worldwide, including coverage on MTV, Big Takeover Magazine, CMJ, Kings of A&R, Noise 11 and Tonedeaf. The media attention earned them licensing spots through a number of production companies in the US including Discovery Networks and Bunim Murray. The video for "Neverending Spirit" also received high profile exposure in the US including MTV Networks. The College Music Journal (CMJ) featured the track on their MixTape for May along with a feature of the band in their magazine.
The Monks successfully toured the "Neurogenesis" EP throughout Australia in the Summer of 2012 working with Tone Deaf, and continued their outreach with a United States tour organized by President Entertainment, which saw the band play at such iconic venues as Whiskey A Go Go in LA and the Mercury Lounge in NYC.
Looking forwards, the Monks of Mellonwah have a huge year planned for 2013 that includes an EP/Trilogy, a minimum of 2 singles and finally the bands debut album which is set for release in the second half of the year.
The first release for 2013 will be “Sky And The Dark Night” which has been written and recorded as a trilogy and will be released on the 29th of March in digital format as well as on a limited edition vinyl release. So far Sky And The Dark Night has been given hugely positive pre-release reviews across a plethora of online music blogs and magazines. Sky has been described as an ‘emotionally charged, heavy offering’, showcasing a new and unique direction for the band which includes orchestral arrangements that flow seamlessly with elements of rock and electronica. The trilogy was self-produced and shows the talent and diverse range of musical influences that lie within the band.
About the inspiration for "Sky & The Dark Night", Joe de la Hoyde says "We are each riddled by our own curses and battle our own demons. There are diseases and syndromes, and many things that we can't understand let alone hope to control. Sky And The Dark Night, is the journey from the beginning of our battles to their fruitless ends; the ups and downs, the triumphs and the failures. It is the undying hope that maybe somewhere along the way, we might find ourselves."
The Monks of Mellonwah’s debut full-length is currently in production, partly with legendary producer Keith Olsen and partly self-produced. The Monks have also signed a development deal with A&R Worldwide (Adele, Muse, Coldplay) and have intensive touring plans in the works for both Australia and the United States in 2013.
