The World Will Follow by Andi Starr
Lyrics
Calling all artists, travelers of soul,
you who are living on Top Ramen, crackers, and toast, remember it’s you we depend on the most.
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
Calling all dreamers, wandering with hope,
continue your work daily, without reproach,
and don’t worry, remember: It’s you we depend on the most
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
All these loves and all these faces;
you take me down to your beautiful places.
Do what you love and the world will follow.
Calling all people, hear what Rumi says:
“Out beyond our ideas of right and wrong, there is a field;
I will meet you there.”
I’ll meet you there.
I’ll meet you there.
I'll meet you there.
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
Do what you love, and the world will follow.
I will meet you, I will meet you there.
I will meet you, I will meet you there.
I will meet you, I will meet you there,
in the beautiful places.
About the artist
Musician/SingerSongwriter/ Co-Producer w/ S. Asher Sund
Genre: ALT/AMBIENT/MELODIC-DRIVEN ROCK
Andi Starr is a classically trained pianist, identical twin, and pastor’s daughter, who at twenty-two-years old, picked up a $100 guitar to help her find a way out of the religious upbringing that no longer worked for her.
Over a decade and six albums later, the resulting music reflects not only the ambiance and dynamics of her classical upbringing but has garnered comparisons to The Cranberries, Joni Mitchell, and Tori Amos. Starr’s particular gift is in turning difficult subject matter into heartfelt, sometimes haunting, and always beautiful compositions. Culturespill Magazine states: “Andi Starr hits the right notes: the notes that hurt, the notes that know you, the notes that make you meet yourself.”
As a multi-instrument, singer-songwriter and producer, Starr first started performing in her hometown of Portland, Oregon, where she worked with indie producer Larry Crane (Slater Kinney, Cat Power, Elliott Smith), and played sold-out shows at some of the premier venues, including Mississippi Studios and the legendary Crystal Ballroom.
But it wasn’t always easy. Starr battled intense, debilitating stage fright in her early years. Troubled by this and haunted by overwhelming nighttime dreams, she turned to psychology (particularly the work of Carl Jung) to understand her dreams and overcome her fear, which also, in turn, deepened her songwriting.
Starr has received much radio attention for her work, including KINK (101.9 FM) in Portland, Oregon, and KMTT (103.7 FM, The Mountain) in Seattle, Washington; has had songs featured in television and film; and has played over one hundred shows (including the prestigious venue Crystal Ballroom). Her song “American Doll (Live at Reed College)" was aired over the opening credits in Espisode 12, Season 2, of the television show “Charmed,” as released on the DVD version.
Starr’s sixth album, the much anticipated “The World Will Follow,” is her most electrifying to date. Starr’s trademark beautiful haunting vocals, poetic lyrics, flat-picking guitar playing and moving piano pieces are backed by the electric and lap steel guitar work of seasoned player/producer Jesse Seibenberg (of Supertramp) and by the synth guitars of engineer/producer Jordan Richter (Sixpence None the Richer, Jars of Clay). For several months, the first single, “Little Bird,” sat at the top of the ReverbNation charts for California.
She currently lives in the Los Angeles area, where she continues to write music with long-time co-producer, the prize-winning poet, S. Asher Sund. Be part of Starr’s journey at www.andistarr.com, www.facebook.com/AndiStarr.
